There are many cases of severe and intolerable pain that have been treated successfully. Below are two such cases:
CASE 1
This patient had ended up with a frozen shoulder after shoulder surgery for rotator cuff repair. A single injection at the trigger points marked relieved her totally. After treatment there is full movement of arm. She maintains normalcy with regular physiotherapy exercises.
CASE 2
This is a 73 year old lady with a frozen shoulder. She could not lift her right hand at all. Her hand was swollen stiff in what is known as “Shoulder hand syndrome”, a dreaded disease that gives such severe pain that patients have committed suicide. This is a disease of nerves. A fine tube (epidural catheter) is placed near the nerves and connected to an infusion pump filled with pain medication.
Referring picture 2, Patient was sent home the same day the treatment is started. The picture shows her on the 3rd day after block. Note increase in movement. She is carrying the pump in the shoulder bag.
4 weeks later catheter and pump removed. Patient has full use of right hand, can comb her hair and do all her routine work in kitchen without pain. She continues to be pain free 2 years later.
