Day after day, patients come in
Some angry “how can this happen to me?”
Some confused, plaintive “why me”
Some crushed “I cant go on like this”
Yet others “get me better, I want to work”
All anxious ”when is this going to end? Is there no permanent cure? How is it that nothing helps?
Once in the clinic, with a little help, All get better, whether infinitesimally or totally.
Finding perspectives, attitudes
And new resources of courage
“OK pain is part of life but I can put it in its place and get on with life”
Oh they are awesome;
Ennobling and humbling the onlooker
Always reiterating that
God moves in mysterious ways
Some get physical pain,
Some get suffering
Yet others get the gift of service
to make all discover him in themselves
